Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications do you hold?
I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Canine Management and Behaviour and am currently progressing toward my Level 5.
I am also certified in Pet First Aid for Pet Professionals (Level 3 VTQ).
Are you insured?
Yes. I hold appropriate insurance to provide professional dog training services.
Do you work with XL Bully breeds?
Yes.
I am insured to work with XL Bully breeds and other legally restricted types, provided that all current legal requirements are fully complied with by the owner.
Owners must ensure:
• They hold the appropriate exemption certificate where required
• They have valid third-party liability insurance
• The dog is handled in accordance with current UK legislation
• A correctly fitted muzzle is worn in public where legally required
All legal responsibility for compliance remains with the owner.
If you are unsure about current requirements, please ensure you have clarified these before booking.
What methods do you use?
All training is grounded in modern, force-free principles. My approach focuses on communication, structure and consistency rather than intimidation or fear-based methods.
Clarity creates more sustainable behaviour change than control.
What services do you offer?
I offer:
• 1–2–1 in-person training
• Behaviour consultations
• Online video consultations
• Structured training programmes
• Group classes (where available)
Each service is tailored to the individual dog and owner.
What should I expect at a consultation?
A consultation is structured but low pressure.
This session allows me to assess your dog’s behaviour, environment and routines before implementing structured training adjustments.
It is important that the household behaves as normally as possible during the consultation. This is an opportunity for me to observe day-to-day patterns, interactions and environmental factors that may be contributing to behaviour. Seeing the typical routine allows for accurate assessment and practical, realistic guidance.
We will discuss history, daily structure, triggers and goals, and begin implementing appropriate adjustments where necessary.
What happens in ongoing sessions?
Training sessions build on the consultation.
I implement structured changes tailored to your dog, adjusting as progress develops. Clear guidance is provided so you can continue applying the work between appointments.
Training is collaborative — progress relies on consistency outside of sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends entirely on the behaviour, environment and consistency of implementation.
Some owners see meaningful improvement after one or two sessions. More complex behavioural cases require ongoing structure and follow-up support.
There is no fixed number — progress is guided by the individual dog.
What should I prepare for a session?
Please ensure:
• Your dog has not just eaten a large meal
• High-value treats are available (if appropriate)
• Standard walking equipment is ready
• Any previous training tools are accessible
• Veterinary concerns have been addressed prior to training
If there is any history of biting or aggression, this must be disclosed before the appointment so appropriate safety planning can be arranged.
What if my dog is nervous with new people?
That is completely fine — and often expected.
Sessions are structured to minimise pressure and allow your dog to adjust at a pace appropriate to them. Building neutrality and confidence is often the first step before progressing further.
Dogs are never forced into interaction.
What if my dog bites?
Any history of biting or significant aggression must be disclosed prior to booking.
Where necessary, you may be asked to use a correctly fitted muzzle or have your dog settled in a safe space on arrival. This will always be discussed beforehand so appropriate safety measures can be put in place.
Training can improve management and behavioural responses, but risk cannot be completely eliminated.
Owners remain legally responsible for their dog at all times.
What equipment do you use?
I have a range of training equipment that I frequently use and recommend. Where appropriate, owners may trial suitable tools during sessions before committing to purchasing their own.
Recommendations are based on the individual dog’s needs and welfare.
How far do you travel?
I am based in MK43.
Travel within a 10-mile radius is included in the session fee.
Travel beyond 10 miles is charged at 30p per mile.
What is your cancellation policy?
A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.
Late cancellations may be charged in full.
What results can I expect?
Training provides structured guidance, practical tools and clear direction.
Many owners see meaningful improvements in clarity, structure and behaviour once consistent adjustments are in place. The pace of progress depends on the individual dog, their environment and the consistency of implementation at home.
While no trainer can guarantee specific outcomes, sustainable change is absolutely achievable when structure and communication are applied consistently.
