Supported Walks with Chief

For dogs who need extra support around other dogs, these private walks give you opportunities to practise with guidance, space and time to build familiarity.

You attend with your dog, and I bring Chief. We’ll work together on helping your dog feel more comfortable in another dog’s company, while giving you practical support as situations arise.

These walks can be helpful for dogs who become nervous, excited or reactive around other dogs, and owners who would like regular guidance as they put their training into practice.

Meet Chief

Chief has a big personality. He can be fast, lively and vocal, and part of the purpose of these walks is to help your dog build confidence around dogs with that kind of energy.

He also communicates his boundaries clearly. I’ll help you recognise what both dogs are telling us, including when they’re comfortable, when they’re unsure and when they need more space.

Everyday walks can bring unexpected encounters with dogs who behave differently from those your dog is used to. These sessions give us a carefully managed setting to practise responding to those differences, with guidance and time to work through your dog’s reactions.

We’ll work at a pace that suits you and your dog, adjusting the distance and interaction to suit both dogs. The aim is to build confidence and understanding over time, helping you both feel more prepared for everyday walks.

How the walks work

Before arranging a walk, we’ll discuss your dog’s needs and whether Chief would be a suitable walking companion.

We’ll start at a distance that suits both dogs, adjusting the space and pace as needed. There’ll be opportunities to sniff, take breaks and settle, alongside supported practice.

Walking regularly with the same dog gives us continuity, so we can build on previous experiences and adapt the walks as your dog develops.

What we can work on

  • Walking comfortably around another dog, with appropriate space and gradual introductions.
  • Focus and engagement, helping your dog check in with you around distractions.
  • Managing excitement or uncertainty, recognising when your dog needs support, space or a break.
  • Understanding your dog’s communication, helping you make confident decisions on your everyday walks.

You’ll have opportunities to ask questions and discuss ways to continue practising between our walks.

Before your first walk

Vaccinations and insurance

These requirements help protect your dog and the dogs around them. As walks and some training sessions take place in public spaces, we may also encounter other dogs and people.

All dogs must:

  • Have completed their initial vaccination course and be up to date with vaccinations, including kennel cough.
  • Have valid pet insurance, including third party liability cover suitable for these activities.
  • Be well enough to attend, with no signs of kennel cough or another contagious illness.

Please follow your vet’s advice about when your dog can safely mix with others after vaccination or illness.

Before your first session, please email proof of vaccinations, including kennel cough, and insurance cover to contact@ksk9dogtraining.co.uk. Include your name and your dog’s name.

Proof must be received and checked before your dog can attend. Vaccinations and insurance must remain current throughout your attendance.

Reactivity & Aggression

Please let me know about any reactivity, previous aggression or bite history when you enquire.

Dogs who are reactive or have shown aggression towards other dogs will need a 1-2-1 training session before joining walks with Chief. This allows me to understand your dog’s needs and decide whether these walks would be suitable.

A muzzle may also be required. If your dog needs help becoming comfortable wearing one, I can support you with muzzle training during a 1-2-1 session, before we begin walks with Chief.
